Ellie Goulding

We all know Ellie Goulding and her unique combination of vocals and beats. But unfortunately she took a dip recently with her latest album Lights for some odd reason. Didn’t seem like her fans were into the new things she created. That doesn’t matter though because she is back with a collaboration track. Smart choice of song, a cover of the Weeknd’s High for This, with a smart choice for a producer to collaborate with, Xaphoon Jones.

Bondax

So a friend of mine has continually tried to influence my music taste with his own. He has great taste, don’t get me wrong but me with music is sort of I like what I like, I don’t like what I don’t like. Then during my first year at university, I made a great friend from Britain who has amazing music taste (naturally. She’s a brit) and triggered my love for a genre outside my comfort zone which my first friend had always known to be good. Bondax became one of those artists I couldn’t get enough of and I couldn’t make up my mind which track to post up here. But I finally came across the right one. So here’s a taste of their new track that will literally blow your mind. I’m not one to give advice or trust at all for that matter but trust me this time when I say put in your headphones and crank up the volume.

Trails and Ways

We can’t really deny or fight the dream pop wave that has been sweeping over the music scene recently. It seems that most people enjoy the angelic female (or male) voices backgrounded with light and happy electric 4/4 beats. I don’t blame them, partially because we are in the year 2012. Besides that, its GOOD haha. Here is Trails and Ways who impress me not only with their music but with the fact that they record all their music in their bedroom studio in Oakland, CA. Feel their Brazilian touch with Nunca. WOO.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out their amazing cover of M83’s Midnight City right here. Yummy stuff!

Drums of Death

Scottish produceer, Colin Bailey, who is now based in London, really knows how to pair up some upbeat 4/4 tempos with some melancholic music. He has toured with artists like Peaches and Hot Chip so whether you’re into the kind of music (or not), you will fall for this track. Promises. This is the only version I could find on the internet so apologies for the frequent radio interruptions, but LISTEN TO THE WHOLE THING.

We Don’t Eat - James Vincent McMorrow

T.E.E.P (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)

No one really knows where Halifax is, even I, now living in Canada, have no idea where it is. But a great friend of mine lives there and he has great music taste. Not sure where he gets it from, but he just does. He’s egyptian, so that must be it no? Well, this song was playing on his iPod during our very first time meeting. Not that its important or anything because we’re not lovers or something. I just associate this song with him but you guys don’t care, haha. Here is some T.E.E.P originally from the UK. T.E.E.P has been in the producing world for some time now, remixes tracks of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Now with his own album and EPs out, here’s one of his best tracks.

Beach House

A few days ago, I had a slightly overly romantic evening with a good friend of mine. We ordered sushi, we took a candle and climbed up to the roof of a tall building. The weather that night was perfect with a perfect 360º view of downtown Toronto. What made it more perfect was that we had chosen Beach House to accompany our evening of laughter and meaningful conversation. Not only is Beach House good for chill night time life, their newest album Bloom should be added to your guys’ summer shopping list. I just want to wrap myself in the music, vocals and instruments all included. Myth is only one of the greater tracks in the album.

Title: The Scientist (Cover) Artist: Danny Lohner & Johnette Napolita 41 plays

A good friend of mine and I have been spending some quality time with each other and one thing we share is our love for movies with thrilling plots, protagonists with heart-throbbing smiles and events that keep us at the edge of our seat. We watched Josh Hartnett’s Wicker Park the other night which is sort of falls under the category of psychological thriller; the sorta of movie I’m a complete sucker for. Not only is it a heart wrenchingly amazing movie, but the soundtrack is great too, especially Danny Lohner’s cover of Coldplay’s The Scientist.

Little Hurricane

Little Hurricane is a dirty dirrrrty blues and rock duo from San Diego, California. They’re awesome because the girl is a drummer :) Enjoy some Haunted Heart.

Magic Wands

Today I have officially made a friend of mine my music partner for this blog. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to differentiate between my posts and his, but doesn’t really matter anyways. They’ll both be good :)

Magic Wands is an American duo composed of two both guitar players and electric vocalists, Chris and Dexy Valentine. They found each other’s music through MySpace, moved in together in Nashville, Tennessee and have been writing music together ever since. Have a tase of Black Magic.
